FTV 393 Free Music Store – Ragtime Revival 1972

On From the Vault this week, we revisit a May 6, 1972 recording of the Third Annual Ragtime Revival Reunion from the Free Music Store, a weekly live performance held at WBAI studios from 1969-1976.

This performance is introduced by Barbara Oka;

William Bolcom performs “Sugar Cane Rag” and “The Nonpareil Rag” by Scott Joplin and “Grace and Beauty” rag by James Scott;

“The Baltimore Todolo,” “I’m Just Wild About Harry,” “Goodnight Angeline,” and “The Charleston Rag” by Eubie Blake;

“Fascination,” “Snowy Winter Blues,” and “The Mule Walk” by James P. Johnson;

“Graceful Ghost” and “Night Hubert” by William Bolcom;

Peter Winkler performs “Ragtime Nighthawk.”
