FTV 329 Leonard Cohen, 1974

Cervantes, Yeats, Whitman, The Bible, Frederico Garcia Lorca, Henry Miller, Camus, Sartre… these are the people who helped shape the modern master and subject of this edition of From The Vault: Leonard Cohen, 1974. Cohen has taken poetry, art and spirituality to sell out crowds around the world since his first record in 1967. Here on From The Vault we present Leonard Cohen giving an interview to WBAI’s Kathleen Kendel on December 4th, 1974 while touring his fourth studio record New Skin for the Old Ceremony. It should be noted that as Leonard Cohen mentions his friendship with musician Judy Collins – Collins had a regular time slot on WBAI (The Judy Collins Show) in 1965.

From the Vault is presented through the Pacifica Radio Archives Preservation and Access Project, funded in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts, past grants from the Grammy Foundation, the Ford Foundation, and the American Archive funded by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, along with the generous support of Pacifica Radio listeners.
