FTV 184 Hollywood Blonde

This week on From the Vault we feature two newly restored recordings that speak to the archetype of the ‘Hollywood blond.’ In 1964, the KPFK – Los Angeles Arts and Literature department created a documentary that explored the mystique of the Hollywood blond, beginning with public hysteria that surrounded the death of 1930′s bombshell Jean Harlow. We’ll also hear a rare interview with 1930′s exotic dancer Sally Rand. Finally, we’ll sample from a program called Remembering Marilyn, produced and broadcast in 1963 on KPFK, just a year after Monroe’s death.
From the Vault is presented as part of the Pacifica Radio Archives Preservation and Access Project.
